MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited has announced its support for the upcoming Sprint for Lwakataka, joining the motorsport community as the official payments partner for the event scheduled for 20 September 2026 at Garuga.
The Sprint marks Ponsiano Lwakataka’s 25 years in motorsport, celebrating a career that has made him one of Uganda’s most recognizable rally drivers. Known for his distinctive, high-energy driving style and strong following among motorsport enthusiasts, Lwakataka has enjoyed major successes on the Ugandan rally circuit, including National Rally Championship victories and memorable performances in the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally.
Through the partnership, MTN MoMo will bring the Power of MoMo to the Sprint by enabling fans to purchase their event tickets conveniently through MoMo. Tickets purchased using MoMo will cost UGX 5,000, while tickets purchased at the gates using cash will cost UGX 10,000.
The MoMo experience will extend beyond ticket purchase and into the race-day experience. Fans who purchase their tickets through MoMo will have access to dedicated entry lanes outside the VVIP area, helping provide a smoother and more convenient arrival at the venue. In addition, customers will enjoy 20% off purchases made through the MoMo App during the event.
Tickets are available through MoMo by dialling *165*20# and following the prompts to purchase a ticket.
As part of its support for the Sprint, MTN MoMo has contributed UGX 15 million towards the event, with the funds going towards preparations for Lwakataka’s rally car and supporting the delivery of a fitting celebration of his 25-year motorsport journey. The contribution underscores MTN MoMo’s commitment to supporting Ugandan talent and creating platforms that celebrate passion, resilience and performance.

The Sprint for Lwakataka will take place on 20 September 2026 at Garuga, bringing together motorsport enthusiasts for a day of high-speed competition, entertainment and celebration as Lwakataka marks a major milestone in his motorsport career.
