President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that the Bunyoro Sub-region will soon host a second industrial park—this one dedicated entirely to agro-processing—as the government intensifies efforts to boost industrialisation and expand job opportunities in the Albertine region.

Speaking to a large crowd at Booma Grounds in Hoima City on Thursday, Museveni said the upcoming agro-industrial park will operate separately from the Kabalega Industrial Park, which focuses on petroleum-related activities. He explained that the two sectors cannot safely coexist within the same facility.

“We are establishing another industrial park solely for agro-processing, distinct from the petroleum one,” the NRM Presidential Candidate said. “Food industries cannot be combined with petroleum industries, so Bunyoro will have both parks.”

Joined by First Daughter Natasha Museveni Karugire and senior NRM officials, Museveni used the rally to highlight major achievements of the NRM Manifesto and reflect on Uganda’s progress under NRM leadership over the past 40 years.

He emphasized peace, development, and wealth creation as the foundation of Uganda’s transformation. He also noted significant improvements in Hoima’s infrastructure, including expanded road networks, better telecommunications, and an electrification programme that has connected 12 out of 14 sub-counties.

The President further highlighted improvements in education, noting that Hoima District now has 64 government primary schools and six government secondary schools, while Hoima City hosts 33 government primary schools and five government secondary schools—each implementing USE and UPOLET. Construction of four additional Seed Secondary Schools is underway.

Health services have also been upgraded. Museveni cited enhancements at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and confirmed plans to elevate Kigorobya HCIV to General Hospital status.

He advised residents to complement government investments with household wealth creation, urging small farmers to adopt the four-acre model and encouraging larger landowners to pursue commercial agriculture.

On Uganda’s 6.5 billion barrels of proven crude oil reserves, Museveni insisted that oil revenues must be channelled into long-term development projects such as industrialisation rather than consumption.

Top NRM leaders—including Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among and Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja—commended the President for transformative flagship projects in the region, such as Hoima Stadium, Bunyoro University, and the fast-expanding road network.

Hoima District NRM Chairperson Vincent Muhumuza Savannah thanked the President for landmark projects like Hoima International Airport and the Regional Blood Bank but raised concerns about ongoing land evictions. He appealed for Museveni’s intervention to ensure residents obtain secure and affordable land titles.
