President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Saturday intensified his campaign efforts in Bududa District, rallying residents to renew their support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) as the only political force capable of sustaining Uganda’s steady progress.
Addressing thousands of supporters alongside senior NRM leaders, President Museveni said the Movement’s record speaks for itself, noting that NRM’s leadership has delivered tangible results in infrastructure, agriculture, and household wealth creation.
“I urged our people to continue supporting the Movement because we are not just talking — we are showing results,” Museveni declared, adding that Bududa stands as proof of what the NRM government has achieved under its transformative agenda.
Highlighting key infrastructure milestones, the President pointed out that the Mbale–Bumbobi–Bubulo–Lwakhakha road has been completed, while funds have already been secured to finalize the Bubulo–Namisindwa–Bududa circular road. He said such projects are crucial for integrating rural communities into the broader economy and promoting regional trade.
Turning to the success of the Parish Development Model (PDM), Museveni said the initiative has empowered local residents to transition from subsistence to commercial production. “The District Chairman testified that through PDM, the people of Bududa are now suppliers of beef and cows to eastern Uganda and even Kampala — a clear sign that wealth creation at the household level is taking root,” he said.
Museveni urged the people of Bududa to remain vigilant and reject opportunistic politicians who promise change without a plan. “We must protect these gains and continue supporting all wealth creation initiatives to ensure every family joins the money economy,” he said, reiterating that NRM’s policies are founded on stability, peace, and inclusive growth.
“Mwanyaala naabi, Bududa!” Museveni concluded to loud cheers, reaffirming his close connection with the people of Bugisu sub-region.
The President’s message in Bududa reinforces the NRM’s campaign theme of continuity and transformation, contrasting the party’s development record with the uncertainty of opposition politics.
