Shockwaves in Ugandan football! Vipers SC has dramatically pulled out of the Uganda Premier League’s controversial new format, accusing FUFA of arrogance, blackmail, and outright disrespect.
In a fiery letter dated October 2, 2025, club president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa declared that the Venoms would not honour their next fixture — a double-header against Kitara FC at Namboole on October 4, effectively boycotting the league.
Vipers says FUFA ignored repeated warnings in letters sent on August 23, September 23, and September 29, as well as in private meetings. Instead of dialogue, the club claims it was met with ridicule and public humiliation on both mainstream and social media.
“This conduct is unethical, disrespectful, and undermines the sacrifices we make as a private club to grow Ugandan football,” the letter fumed.
The club insists the timing of the 2025/26 reforms is “untimely and reckless,” warning that FUFA’s unilateral decisions could crush Vipers’ very survival.
Mulindwa vowed to drag the matter through every legal and governance channel available, while also copying the explosive letter to the Minister of Education and Sports, the National Council for Sports, the UPL Secretariat, sponsors, partners, and supporters.
With the Venoms now officially in open war with FUFA, the league faces a storm that could shake Ugandan football to its core.
