Uganda has announced a 26-man squad to take part in two decisive Group G fixtures of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Head coach Paul Put released the list on Tuesday, confirming preparations for the Cranes’ upcoming matches against Botswana on October 9 and table leaders Algeria on October 14.
Currently second in Group G with 15 points, Uganda remains in contention for a historic FIFA World Cup debut, but must secure maximum points in these final games to keep their dream alive.
“These two away fixtures are extremely crucial, and we must prepare thoroughly if we are to keep our campaign alive,” Put told Xinhua.
The squad features experienced players including skipper Khalid Aucho, who recently lifted the CECAFA Kagame Cup with Singida Black Stars FC, alongside veteran goalkeepers Denis Onyango and Salim Omar Magoola, both based in South Africa.
Uganda boosted its chances earlier this month with back-to-back wins against Mozambique and Somalia at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
