Uganda’s star long-distance runner, Jacob Kiplimo, is gearing up for the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
Scheduled for October 12, the Chicago Marathon is part of the prestigious World Marathon Majors series.
“I chose to withdraw from the World Championship to dedicate more time to preparing for the Chicago Marathon,” Kiplimo said.
The reigning World Cross Country Champion, who only recently transitioned from shorter distances, shared that he is learning new strategies and techniques for marathon running.
“My body is responding well, and I feel confident about delivering a strong performance in Chicago,” he added.
Earlier this year, Kiplimo made a remarkable marathon debut, finishing second at the London Marathon and setting a Ugandan national record of 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 37 seconds.
Patrick Cheboto, one of Kiplimo’s coaches, confirmed his readiness, stating, “He is focused, injury-free, and showing excellent signs ahead of Chicago.”
