On Friday, August 29th, singer Bebe Cool released the video for Hidden Agendas, a standout single from his Break the Chains album. Since its release in May, the track has been a fan favorite, and the new video gives it a cinematic dimension.
Directed by Garrick Williams, the story-driven video follows Bebe Cool as a man betrayed by his closest friends. It begins with an elderly Bebe Cool narrating the tale to his grandchildren, before cutting to scenes of him in the mines, in an office signing documents, and finally being arrested—his piercing look at his betrayers serving as the video’s emotional climax.
Unlike typical music videos that rely on models, Hidden Agendas taps into Uganda’s film industry for authenticity. Casting agent Kasule Douglas Benda brought on board actors Angel Toni Acer, Christiano Okitwi, and Crispus Ogwal, while makeup artist Esther Nakaziba of the Karakta Makeup and Costume Festival fame added depth to the production.
This is the third video off Break the Chains, and it highlights a bold new direction: merging music and film to tell richer stories. For Bebe Cool, Hidden Agendas is more than a release—it’s an artistic statement redefining Ugandan music visuals.
