As the Tooro Kingdom prepares to celebrate the 30th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the Omukama, Kansai Plascon Uganda has stepped forward with a generous donation to help restore the Royal Palace to its full glory. Uganda’s leading paint manufacturer will provide paint for both the interior and exterior refurbishment of the expansive palace, which covers over 8,500 square meters.
The official handover ceremony took place at the Palace Grounds, led by Plascon Uganda Managing Director Santosh Gumte, accompanied by Head of Marketing Daniel Kayongo and Head of Sales Kato Moses. Receiving the donation on behalf of the Kingdom were Tooro Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire and Deputy Prime Minister Henry Basaliza.
“Such partnerships create meaningful impact and real change,” said Prime Minister Rwomiire. “We’re incredibly grateful to Plascon for this generous initiative. This isn’t our first collaboration—Plascon has supported the Kingdom through events like the Amasaza Cup, helping us reach thousands more people.”
He also extended a warm invitation to the public: “I invite everyone to join us for the coronation celebrations. With the palace freshly painted and restored to its majestic glory, it will truly be a sight to behold.”
Plascon’s support underscores its commitment to cultural preservation and community development.
“We are proud to be the official paint partner of the Tooro Kingdom,” said Managing Director Santosh Gumte. “This partnership is something we deeply cherish—I was even honored with the Empaako name ‘Ateeyi’. Supporting cultural, educational, and religious institutions is an integral part of our ESG goals and our way of giving back to the communities that uplift our brand.”
The palace restoration is one of the key projects in preparation for the Coronation Anniversary, which will take place on September 12, 2025. This initiative not only enhances the Kingdom’s historic site but also aligns with Kansai Plascon’s broader #ColourYourWorld initiative, which promotes sustainability, heritage preservation, and community empowerment.
