The African Sisters Network’s (TASN) second Brunch & Learn was more than an event, it was a movement in motion. Held at Emin Pasha Hotel on July 5th, this edition was themed “Be Seen. Be Heard: How Owning Your Voice Transforms Your Personal and Professional Life”, and it brought together over 150 women to explore the power of voice, vulnerability, and leadership.
Event Highlights:
- Quiin Abenakyo, Miss Uganda 2018 and Miss World Africa, shared her evolution from beauty queen to global change agent. She urged women to embrace their voices and build their confidence with constant actions. “Confidence comes from competence and when you own your story, you stop asking permission to exist. You lead,” she said.
- Jacqueline Asiimwe, CEO of CivSource Africa and a force in civic leadership, encouraged women to lead from within so that they can be seen on the outside.
Some of the people in attendance was Elizabeth Kasedde Mwerinde, Head Commercial Banking Eco Bank Uganda, Gloria Haguma, a renowned fashion journalist at the Daily Monitor, among others.
The event also saw graduation of the fourth cohort of their personal branding and LinkedIn mastery class.
The African Sisters Network has so far conducted four classes, each attracting 20 to 30 women per cohort. These women are taught practical skills in developing a strong personal brand, optimizing their LinkedIn profiles, creating engaging professional content, and building connections that support their careers and personal growth.
The African Sisters Network, founded by Victoria Nyanzi, is on a mission to empower 1 million African girls and women by 2040. With over 500 women already directly impacted, and 1,500+ reached through digital spaces, TASN is growing fast and the sisterhood is only getting stronger.
