President Museveni has described the late Cedric Babu as a promising and inspirational leader whose passing is a painful loss to the country. The President’s message was delivered by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa during Babu’s burial in Kamengo, Mpigi District on Friday.
In his tribute, President Museveni hailed Babu’s ability to mobilise and inspire others, noting that he possessed qualities of a bright, emerging leader who held great promise for Uganda’s future.
“Cedric’s passing is a painful loss given the immense potential he held,” the President said in his message.
Tayebwa, who also represented Parliament, extended condolences to the family, noting that Cedric’s father, Hon. Francis Babu, had served the legislature with dedication.
“This is a difficult time for the family, but Cedric’s parents should take pride in the legacy their son leaves behind. The powerful testimonies shared since his passing reflect his strong character and the values instilled in him,” Tayebwa said.
The Deputy Speaker also commended Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and other friends for their support and for giving Cedric a dignified send-off.
Cedric Babu was laid to rest amid an outpouring of grief, tributes, and admiration for his contributions to society, especially among Uganda’s youth.
