Police at Nagalama has intercepted suspected cattle thieves at Nakasajja Trading Centre, recovering three heads of cattle and resulting in the deaths of two suspects during a high-speed chase.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the operation unfolded at around 3:00 AM when officers on routine patrol at Kalagi Trading Centre along Gayaza Road spotted a white Toyota Prado TX (registration number UAZ 797G) moving suspiciously.

“When signaled to stop, the vehicle sped off, prompting a pursuit,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement. “The vehicle was eventually intercepted at Nakasajja Trading Centre.”

During the operation, some suspects reportedly fled the scene. Two others sustained injuries during the encounter and were pronounced dead en route to the hospital. Their identities remain unknown.

Police say efforts are underway to trace the origin of the recovered livestock and identify the remaining suspects. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the City Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Authorities have commended the vigilance of the Nagalama Police officers and assured the public that investigations are ongoing.
