
Jubilation echoed through Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese Municipality as Rwenzori East Region Police FC delivered a dominant performance, defeating NWSC FC Kasese 7-1 in a Heroes Day friendly match.
The match, which kicked off at approximately 5:00 PM, drew hundreds of football enthusiasts from across the region. The event doubled as a celebration of unity and community spirit, attracting several high-profile guests, including Deputy Regional Police Commander SSP Muhumuza Alex, Divisional DPC Hima SP Bwire Nerima Suzan, DPC Katwe-Kabatoro ASP Ssemambo Mohamed, and prominent business figures such as the Managing Directors of Sandton Hotel and Another Life Group of Companies.
Rwenzori East Region Police FC put on a spectacular display, with goals from SP DK Nyanzi Dennis, SP Piriyo Robert Harry, ASP Abaho (OC Hima), and a brace from Police Constable Omutuju Bilali. PC Wamboga Jackson added another goal to the tally, while a key assist from SP Barenzi Niwagira Richard led to a final goal by ASP Niwagira Emmanuel, OC Traffic Kasese.
NWSC FC managed to net a consolation goal through player No. 7, Kateba Andrew.
Speaking after the match, SSP Muhumuza Alex, who also serves as team manager for the police side, expressed confidence in his team’s prospects in the upcoming IGP Cup Tournament (2nd Edition). “I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Rwenzori East Region FC will win the forthcoming IGP Cup because of our overwhelming record of winning several matches, both at home and away,” he stated.
