The family of Canon Jimmy Musimbi is pleading for answers after his body remained unaccounted for days following a fatal YY Coaches bus crash that claimed multiple lives on Monday evening.
Musimbi, a revered former Electoral Commission official and current Chairperson of the Manafwa District Service Commission, was among the passengers on the ill-fated bus.
While the wreckage has been recovered and several victims identified, Musimbi’s body remains missing, causing deep emotional turmoil for his loved ones.
“We are devastated. We have searched hospitals and mortuaries from Mulago to Kayunga but found nothing. His personal items were recovered at the scene. We are desperate,” said Alex Musimbi, his son.
Mourners continue to gather at Musimbi’s residence in Mbale City, awaiting news that remains elusive. Eyewitnesses claim he was seen struggling for help during the crash, but no trace of him has emerged since.
The absence of clear answers has intensified the pain for a family and community mourning a man known for his integrity and decades of public service. Musimbi retired from the Electoral Commission in 2019 and most recently served as a panelist on Uganda’s Industrial Court
