The Ugandan government, through the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs (MOJCA), has outlined major milestones achieved under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto 2021-2026. The report, presented by Robert Kasande, the Permanent Secretary, was delivered at the Office of the President Auditorium.
The manifesto, which prioritizes justice, governance, and anti-corruption measures, has made significant progress in key areas. Among the notable accomplishments is the compensation of war-affected households in the Teso, Lango, Acholi, and West Nile regions, providing restitution for lost cattle. Additionally, the government has implemented the National Transitional Justice Policy (NTJP) to foster reconciliation in post-conflict communities.
In the fight against corruption, the government has strengthened investigative and prosecution systems, ensuring thorough adjudication of corruption cases. A major technological advancement has been the rollout of the Computerized Prosecution Case Management System (PROCAMIS) in 20 additional stations, enhancing efficiency in the judiciary.
MOJCA also emphasized its strategic objectives, including enhancing access to legal services, strengthening institutional capacity, and improving governance frameworks. Several allied institutions, such as the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) and the Electoral Commission, have played a pivotal role in advancing these initiatives.
With the NRM government now in the final stretch of its manifesto period, stakeholders are keenly observing how remaining commitments will be fulfilled as Uganda moves toward 2026.
