The retired headteacher of Mugwanya Preparatory School, Kabojja, Brother Godfrey Lutaaya, has exchanged vows with Dorothy Lutaaya in holy matrimony.
Lutaaya, 61, a former member of the Brothers of Christian Instruction, walked down the aisle to ululations from the crowd with his beaming bride.
The colourful wedding happened on Saturday at Munyonyo Catholic Shrine and was attended by a number of priests, religious figures and educators, among other dignitaries.
They hosted their guests to a reception at the Kampala Serena Hotel. Dressed in a white tuxedo, the bespectacled Bro. Lutaaya was a picture of elation and palpable relief as he made a march past and waved at the congregation.
His bride, dressed in an overflowing gown, had an earto-ear smile etched on her face. The maids, dressed in carnation pink, added to the glamour.
Lutaaya’s wedding comes two years after his retirement as headteacher of the above school in 2022, a position he had held for 16 years, being the longestserving headteacher for the institution.
In an interview with the New Vision yesterday, Lutaaya confirmed the news of his new life journey.
He insisted he went through the proper channels that saw him being granted permission to wed.
In his words, he said: “Having got the blessings to wed from the Pope through the Superior General, I am ready to move onto the next chapter in my life — that of marital bliss.
Lutaaya is one of the most celebrated teachers and in 2018, he was nominated and awarded in the Teachers Making a Difference competition.
According to one of his close friends, who preferred to remain anonymous, the Lutaaya’s have been long-time friends and it wasn’t entirely surprising for the wedding bells to chime.
