The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Deputy Secretary General, RosebNamayanja Nsereko, welcomed Ariko John De West, the newly appointed LCV chairman of Abim district, as he officially solidified his commitment to collaborate with the ruling party by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
Addressing the importance of the MOU, Namayanja explained, “We undertake to sign an MOU with them, as the law requires that if one is independent, they are independent of any party and each other. However, when they sign an MOU with us, they officially reaffirm their commitment to the party and are bound by the party’s positions and constitution. They are ready to implement the NRM manifesto in Abim district.”
Namayanja expressed gratitude to Mr. Ariko for his decision to sign the MOU with the NRM party, assuring him of their support in implementing the party’s manifesto.
Ariko John De West assumes the prestigious role of the new LCV chairman of Abim district following a recent ruling by the Court of Appeals. The court nullified the tenure of Mr. Yuventine Omara, clearing the path for Mr. Ariko’s appointment. Notably, Mr. Ariko contested as an independent candidate in the 2021 elections.
Demonstrating his unwavering loyalty, Mr. Ariko John De West highlighted his extensive history with the NRM dating back to 2002. He emphasized that the MOU serves as a formal reaffirmation of his dedication to the party’s principles.
“As the new LCV chairman, my primary objective is to oversee and strengthen the party’s interests during the ongoing membership registration exercise. Given the overwhelming support for the NRM among the people of Abim district, it is imperative to ensure our unity,” he asserted.
Accompanying Ariko was Jimbricky Norman Ochero, Member of Parliament for Labwor constituency, Abim district, symbolizing the solidarity and cooperation within the NRM community.
