UPDF, FARDC Eliminate One ADF Rebel as Operation Targets Remaining Remnants

1 Mins read

In a joint operation, the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Forces of Congo (FARDC) successfully killed one terrorist belonging to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Maserekwede, Ituri Province.

The ongoing operation aims to completely eradicate the terrorist group, which has fragmented into smaller units of 5-7 individuals across four sectors of the joint operations.

Major General Dick Olum, the Commander of the Mountain Division and Operation Shujaa, is situated in sector four at Luna, serving as the tactical headquarters for the operation and overseeing the intensified search for the remaining terrorists.

In a related development, the combined UPDF and FARDC forces recently seized additional weapons from the ADF terrorists. During a confrontation in Kasongo, Ituri province, one PK machine gun, one Sub Machine Gun (SMG), and one hundred rounds of ammunition were recovered.

The continued loss of weapons and ammunition poses a significant setback to the ISIS-affiliated group, as they are in desperate need of these resources to sustain their activities.
