In a heart-warming visit to the Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, First Lady Janet Museveni expressed her admiration for the institution’s exceptional healthcare services and lauded the Ministry of Health for its dedicated efforts in improving maternal and neonatal care.

Accompanied by the Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the First Lady arrived at the hospital on Friday, where she received a warm welcome from the medical staff and administrators. The purpose of her visit was to assess the hospital’s facilities, interact with healthcare professionals, and gain firsthand insights into the quality of care provided to expectant mothers and their newborns.

During her tour of the Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital, First Lady Janet Museveni visited various wards, including the neonatal intensive care unit, maternity ward, and operating rooms. She also had the opportunity to speak with doctors, nurses, and patients, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and successes in delivering healthcare services to women and infants.

Impressed by the hospital’s state-of-the-art equipment and the dedication of the medical staff, the First Lady commended the efforts made to ensure the well-being of both mothers and neonates. In a statement, she said, “I am genuinely impressed by the dedication and professionalism of the staff at Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital. The services provided here are remarkable, and it’s evident that the Ministry of Health is making great strides in improving maternal and neonatal care in our country.”

She went on to highlight the importance of investing in healthcare infrastructure and the critical role of such specialized institutions in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates. The First Lady’s visit served as a platform to underscore the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services, particularly in the areas of maternal and neonatal care.

Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, who accompanied the First Lady on the visit, expressed her gratitude for the support and recognition of the hospital’s work. Dr. Nabunya expressed gratitude to the government’s leadership for recognizing the unique societal need to empower women through healthcare services.
