The National Unity Platform spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi, and the Secretary-General, Lewis Rubongoya, have been arrested by the military and transported to Kiira Road Police Station, Ug Mirror reports
The two were brutally arrested and bundled into the drone that took off at breakneck speed.
“The military siege of our party headquarters & the arrest of our Secretary General
@DavidLRubongoya and Spokesman @JoelSsenyonyi speaks volumes about our country’s democratic credentials.
This happening on a day when the country is supposedly celebrating its 61st Independence Day only shows that we are still under colonialism – it’s only the colonisers skin colour that changed,” said Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga.
It is worth noting that yesterday, Bobi Wine announced that instead of celebrating Independence Day, they would use the day to pray for their fallen supporters who have so far died in the struggle for change in Uganda.
