Eastern Uganda FDC Delegates Endorse Patrick Amuriat For Presidency

1 Mins read

Six sub-regional delegates of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Eastern Uganda have formally approved Patrick Amuriat to be the party’s next president.

Bugisu, Bukedi South, Bukedi North, Sebei, Busoga, and Kyoga are some of these sub-regions.

The main goal of the endorsement event, which was held over the weekend at the Mountain Inn Hotel in Namakwekwe in Mbale City Northern City Division, was to hear Amuriat’s message.

Delegate Emma Sebunyo of the Bulambuli district stated that Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Moses Byamugisha are running for the position of party president.

Sebunyo observed that Amuriat has shown strong leadership, particularly in his endeavours to bring the party together and thwart attempts to weaken it by individuals supporting the previous FDC president Dr Kiiza Besigye.

Delegates, he claims, think Amuriat is the best candidate to serve as the party’s president going forward. Delegate Samuel Owuma, from the Busia district, noted that the stability of the party has been bolstered by the productive working relationship that Amuriat and General Secretary Nathan Nandala Mafabi have had for the last five years. As a result, they don’t think the party needs a new leader.

Patrick Amuriat Oboi, who is running for reelection, asked delegates to cast their ballots for him at the delegate’s conference on October 6, 2023.

He underlined how crucial it is to cooperate with Nandala in order to stabilize the party in the midst of the ongoing disputes. Amuriat urged party members and delegates to maintain their composure.

He brushed off worries that Besigye’s faction’s persistent conflicts might cause the party to fall apart. The member of parliament for Tororo County, Geoffrey Ekanya, encouraged all FDC members and delegates to attend the delegate conference in order to cast their votes for the party’s leadership.
