A fire has broken out at Entebbe International Airport in one of the warehouses belonging to the DAS handling agency and property worth billions has been destroyed.
Preliminary information shows that property worth billions has been lost, including National Medical Stores (NMS) mosquito nets that had been imported for the Ministry of Health to distribute to Ugandans.

Mosquito Net Distribution in Uganda
In July 2023, the Minister of Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero announced that the Government is distributing 28.5 million Long Lasting Insecticide-treated mosquito Nets (LLINs) across the country as part of the efforts to reduce Malaria morbidity and mortality.
The campaign is being carried out with support from The Global Fund and Against Malaria Foundation and focuses on behaviour change aimed to achieve consistent net use, net repair, repurposing and tackling the social norms that bar utilization.
The distribution of nets under wave 2 is in the 10 Districts of; Buhweju, Kalangala, Sheema, Rubirizi, Kiruhura, Mitooma, Serere, Soroti District, Namisindwa and Lira District.
Additionally, Soroti and Lira Cities will also be covered in this wave.
To date, Malaria cases at the outpatient Department (OPD) in epidemic districts have dropped from 109,938 in March 2023 to the current 58,822 a drop of 46%, There has been a reduction in admissions from 6,216 to 3,772 which is a drop of over 40%
