Crime Intelligence boss meets leaders of the Tabliq Sect

The Director of Police Crime Intelligence in Uganda, AIGP Brig. Christopher Ddamulira, met with the Tabliq sect on Tuesday at Police Intelligence headquarters in Kololo in an important step towards strengthening community collaborations and boosting security. The purpose of the discussion was to determine how the Uganda police and the Tabliq the community might collaborate closely to maintain national security and peace.

The Tabliq sect leaders commended the Ugandan government for the nation’s peace, security, and religious freedom during the meeting.

They also praised H.E. the President for legalising the operation of Islamic banking in Uganda and for signing the Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

The Tabliq sect urged the president to provide more resources for Muslims, such as tractors.

They urged the security forces to improve all levels of cooperation and communication with the Tabliq sect leaders.

The Director praised the Tabliq sect leaders for agreeing to meet and talk about matters that interested both parties.

He also pleaded with them to fully cooperate with the authorities and security forces in order to find and expose those elements that damage the image of the Muslim faith.

Following the meeting, both parties agreed to keep lines of communication open between the police and the Tabliq sect leadership in order to ensure that issues of common concern and difficulties are quickly resolved.
