Jinja City has joined a growing list of cities, districts and regions across the country in endorsing the “Omalako Jajja Tova ku Main, Sigala ku ballot” wave sweeping across the country.

The slogan loosely translated as “You are capable, stay on course the main road and ballot,” is a clarion call by Ugandans asking President Yoweri Museveni to stay on as leader of the country beyond 2026 when his current term of of office comes to an end.

It is organised under the auspices of the Office of the National Chairman of NRM, managed by SPA Hajjat Hadija Namyalo Uzeiye. President Museveni is the NRM National Chairman.

The endorsement happens with the signing of a banner with the inscribed words accompanied by a photo of President Museveni.

On Saturday, she brought the city of Jinja to its knees with the highly publicised and well attended event at Kakindu Stadium.

Locals turned up in their droves for the endorsement that also saw local leaders and MPs join the ONC boss in demanding that President Museveni stays at the helm. So massive was the event that Jinja residents had to ‘ask for water.’ The phrase is commonly used by bazzukulu to refer to an overwhelming experience.

Photos shared online show Hajjat submerged in a sea of humanity as she addressed residents of Jinja City, which forms part of Busoga sub region.

Hajjat Hadijah, who also doubles as National Coordinator of Bazzukulu Ba Museveni (Museveni’s Grandchildren), used the occasion to also distribute an assortment of items including; hair dryers, sewing machines among others, to local to help boost their household incomes.
