Top MP’s Home Disconnected Over Power Theft

1 Mins read

Denis Ssekabira, a member of parliament (MP) for Katikamu North, was allegedly stealing electricity when Umeme, a power distributor, conducted a raid at his residence and medical school.

The weekend operation in Luwero Town Council that targeted several homes and structures began at the lawmaker’s residence in Kizito Zone.

Umeme authorities climbed the power pole and cut the power cables after being unable to get through the main gate.

Based on intelligence, Umeme officials searched the legislator’s St. Denison Health Training School in Kavule Zone, where they found evidence of unlawful connections. They also cut the school off from the electricity supply.

The development was confirmed by Peter Kaujju, Head of Communications and Marketing at Umeme Limited, who stated that their workers on the ground discovered suspicious material.

The power distributors, according to Kaujju, have started looking into the suspected power theft by the legislator.
