A British national passed away after collapsing in her hotel room at the Masindi.
Katelia Khushid Banu, 37, has been identified as the deceased. On Monday, the incident took place at about midnight.
On Monday morning, a hotel employee who talked to Uganda Radio Network on the condition of anonymity described how the deceased booked into the Masindi hotel with her nine relatives at about 8 pm on Sunday after arriving from Kampala as British visitors.
The dead reportedly went to room number 11, where she would spend the night.
She screamed for assistance from the bathroom at around 11:30 pm, though, and her family, who were still outside, heard her. She was discovered on the floor after their swift response.
She explained that right after getting dressed, she had had a shower and fallen on the ground. After the event, Banu’s family helped her, and she sat outside with them before asking them to take her back to her room, where she fainted and died, according to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, who spoke to URN.
He claims that on January 16, 2023, the deceased and her family left for Uganda. They spent some time in Kampala before leaving for Masindi on January 29, 2023.
Hakiza claims that the body of the dead has been transported to the municipal mortuary pending a postmortem.
An Indian national also passed away in a guesthouse in the Kikuube district in April 2022.
Mike Sultan, a 40-year-old Hoima city resident, was named as the deceased.
His deceased body was discovered in his room at the Kasonga Guest House in the Kyangwali Sub-County community of Kasonga Village, Kasonga Parish.
According to preliminary information, the deceased went to Kyangwali to deliver various goods to his clients, including soap, cooking oil, sugar, biscuits, and salt, among others.
Around 6:30 pm, after giving the goods, he checked the guest in.
When he didn’t awaken the following morning, the guesthouse management became suspicious and was forced to investigate, only to discover him dead on his bed.
