The National Resistance Movement (NRM) deputy secretary general, Rose Namayanja Nsereko has urged youth leaders to strive for bigger positions in leadership to enrich their knowledge and as well extend services to the underserved in the community.

Namayanja advised the leaders to utilize the offices of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) to enable them to fully understand the development programmes in the district and also sharpen them in areas of information gathering and patriotism

She made the remarks while interacting with a section of party youth leaders from Luwero district under their umbrella dubbed the Luwero Youth Brigade at the Party Head offices in Nakasero Kampala.

She challenged the youths to monitor government programmes which are being undertaken in their localities to ensure that there is proper resource accountability and effective service delivery to locals.

In her interaction with the young cadres, Namayanja commended them for braving hostility from unfriendly forces while serving their party in various capacities, hence echoing her support to them as they mobilise.

“As a party in leadership, we require leaders in all positions to carryout oversight on government programs,” she said.

She noted that the government programmes in all the districts have to be closely monitored, especially those in relation to socio-economic transformation, to ensure that in every household there is a common objective of eliminating poverty.

She urged the youth leaders to engage in every government programme and as well sensitize citizens about the available programs like; Emyooga and Parish Development Model If government is to fight poverty among households.

“Poverty has to be dealt with at all costs, and you as leaders should be at the forefront because of your role models in your areas of Jurisdiction,” she said.
