Muslim Youth Warned Against Drug Addictions, Fornication

1 Mins read

Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) secretary for religious affairs has cautioned Muslim youths against bad acts and urged them to avoid indulgence in various social vices such as drug addictions, robbery, fornication among others.

Luwemba made the remarks while presiding over the event as Nabisubyaki village in Bbale County in Kayunga Muslim District got its first mosque.

The Mosque was constructed by Ammar Bin Yasir Mescidi, a Turkiye Citizen and philanthropist through a non profit making organization Turkiye-based organization Yardimci Uluslararasi Insan Yardim Derenegi.

The mosque sits on an acre of land donated by Swalik Matovu Kakeeto, a former candidate for the Bbale county NRM parliamentary ticket.

While commissioning a newly constructed Mosque at a colorful function attended by a mammoth crowd, Luwemba described Kakeeto’s gesture as part of the Prophet Muhammad’s teaching when he mentioned that when a person dies, he will continue to yield divine rewards from three deeds among which are the actions of a righteous son.

“Thank you for donating land in memory of your late father despite your youthful age that always values earthly life,” said Lumumba.

Luwemba called upon Muslims of the area to combine efforts towards putting up a learning centre and pledged on behalf of UMSC to offer support for this project.

“Now that the Mosque has been constructed, use it to intensify your daily congregational prayers and finally participate fully in the forthcoming UMSC national elections due shortly,” Luwemba advised.

Muslims from this village have been trekking to distant mosques to attend congregational prayers.

Sheikh Hafizh Muhammad Haruna Bukenya, the Kadhi Kayunga Muslim District pledged 10 bags of cement for the commencement of the construction of the Imam’s residence while responding to a report from the Mosque leadership about the prevailing challenges such as lack of water and the proposed construction of a learning centre.

He also noted that efforts to sink a borehole proved futile because of the rocky terrain. “We need to engage the government to come in and let Brother Swalik Kakeeto as an NRM Stewart lead us,”Bukenya advised.

Using the same occasion, Bukenya revealed his 10-year strategic plan, which is to encourage each Mosque and county to utilize idle land or hire land for income-generating projects such as fruits, vegetables, and food production.

“We are aiming at poverty alleviation among Muslim Clerics and other vulnerable members of the Communities,” he said.
