Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga named the suspects at a media briefing he addressed on behalf of the joint security agencies.

The suspects were net in ongoing operations. For the past months, Mukono residents especially those within the Municipality have been crying foul over thugs that have been raiding their shops, homes, and student hostels.

Security agencies comprising the Uganda People’s Defence Forces-UPDF, Crime Intelligence, Flying Squad and Mukono police have since placed special attention on Mukono with the view of apprehending all remnants of crime.

Recently, the Assistant Inspector General of Police and the Director of Operations in the Uganda Police Force, Edward Ochom, the Kampala Metropolitan police commander, Stephen Tanui, and Commandant of Tokora operations in UPDF, Col Fred Mwesigye issued shoot-to-kill orders against the robbers.

According to the alleged confessions of the suspects, the first robbery incident that happened on December 9, 2021 was conducted at the shop of Immaculate Nanyombi where the robbers made off with 10 smartphones, and two flat-screen TVs, and three Lenovo laptops.

On June 11, 2022, the thugs attacked the Ssenkungu Sekyeza and robbed him of property worth Shillings 6.1 million.

The thugs also robbed Richard Kabonzi on June 17, 2022 property valued at Shillings 18 million including a Toyota Noah UAQ 773Q, woofer, and smartphones.

Fatumah Ndisaba, a resident of Mukono and member of the security committee, says it is shameful to keep promising people security when criminals continue unleashing brutality.

Ndisaba prays that everyone ups his or her game in order for criminality to be minimized in Mukono.

Among the exhibits so far recovered include two cars and five motorcycles. The vehicles are UAD 728Y, and UAZ 283X while the motorcycles include UDX 490K, UDE 876T, UEQ 533Z, UFP 443D, and UEJ 033R.

In addition, security agencies have recovered a gun and nine pangas allegedly used in the robberies.

Other victims of the armed robberies include Iren Ssekindi a cashier who was robbed and shot in the stomach on June 24, 2022, Annet Asiimwe who was robbed of two mobile phones and Shillings 100, 000 on June 18, Peter Kinalwa Male was robbed on June 26 and Rahima Nabakooza who was robbed of Shillings 490000 on June 1, 2022.
