Museveni Hands Over Four Newly Built Houses To 2021 Election Violence Victims

President Yoweri Museveni has handed over four (4) newly constructed housing units to victims of election violence in Katakwi district.

The houses were handed over by the Vice President Jessica Alupo.

The beneficiary election violence victims included families of the late Mark Elobat from Palam Sub county in Ngariam county and late Teresa Akiror of Apule village in Kapujan, Lucy Apenyo of Apule village, and Charles Otyang also of Apule village, Toroma county who were shot at at the polling station and sustained serious injuries during the last 2021 general elections.

Commissioning these milestones on behalf of the President, Vice President Jessica Alupo, also woman MP-Katakwi District; accompanied by the State house Comptroller Miss Jane Barekye condoled with the families who lost their loved ones and said that government has the capacity to give justice to victims, while assuring them that government will work continuously to bring the culprits to book. She urged law enforcement agencies to follow up the issues to their logical conclusion.

Alupo thanked government especially President Yoweri Museveni for creating and maintaining an enabling environment for Ugandans to enjoy security for the last three decades, inspite of these isolated incidences of criminality.

The Vice President also rallied the residents to take keen interest in Government Development Programs geared at increasing household incomes especially the Parish Development Model.

Alupo assured the locals that she would start deep sensitization interactions around the country to popularize and encourage the population to participate in the Parish Development Model program.

On her part, the comptroller, Ms.Barekye lauded President Museveni for fulfilling his pledge of constructing housing units for 25 victims of election violence in Teso region, who included today’s beneficiaries.

Later in the afternoon, Alupo joined the faithful at St.Pancras’  Catholic Parish Toroma, which was celebrating over  80 years under the theme from Luke 17: 5 ” Lord, increase our faith”.

The church held a fundraising drive to rally support that will see their development activities get underway.

The Vice President full filled her pledge of 20m for seats for St Pancras Catholic Church.

The statehouse Comptroller Jane Baryekye donated two million shillings towards the construction of Regina Caelli cathedral.
