Oulanyah`s son, Andrew Ojok was last week backed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to contest for the Omoro County Member of Parliament seat under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Museveni argued that Ojok is a perfect choice and match to finish Oulanyah`s remaining four years as the Omoro County MP following his demise last month. Oulanyah was the Speaker of Parliament and NRM Vice Chairperson for the Northern Region.

Now, Kiggundu says that the President and his team made the right choice in picking Ojok noting that he is worthy and capable to serve the people of Omoro County based on his intelligence and father`s wisdom.

Kigundu was on Monday evening speaking during the handover of land for the construction of a water reservoir tank to NWSC from Gulu City which was also attended by the MP hopeful.

Kiggundu declared and pledged full support for Ojok much as he is not a voter in Omoro County, expressing the wish that he still had his previous powers as Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

Kiggundu whose 14-years term as Chairperson of the electoral commission ended in 2016 is now the Board Chairperson of the NWSC.

During his tenure, he was accused by the opposition of supporting President Yoweri Museveni of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Dan Kidega, the Former Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) also declared support for Ojok and promised to canvass votes for him noting that he is the right candidate.

Ojok who said that he is yet to acquaint himself with politics welcomed every word from the two with a nod. The Omoro County MP seat has so far attracted eleven aspirants.

The Electoral Commission has commenced the display of voter registers and issuance of voter location slips at Polling stations in Omoro County. The exercise will end on May 4.

The electoral commission has set May 26 as the date for the election in Omoro County, which was represented by the former Speaker of Parliament, Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah who died on March 20 in the United States of America.
