Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire has said that they have apprehended businessman Emmanuel Lwasa Kaweesa for allegedly forging documents.
Owoyesigyire explained that Lwasa was arrested on April, 4, 2022 at 1600hrs from his office at Najja Shopping Centre, Najjanankumbi for allegedly forging the signature of the acting Director, Geological survey and mines at Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development
“We were able to trap him in his fraudulent transactions using his two companies; Trans Equator Miners Ltd and Trade Pannel International Limited. I can confirm that he is in our hands at the moment,” said Owoyesigyire.
According to the Deputy Police spokesperson, several companies were being investigated over forgery of the signature and this he said has led to arrest and detention of many city businessmen including Lwasa.
Owoyesigyire explained that they will continue to carry out such operations to ensure that these unscrupulous businessmen are weeded out.
“We are still carrying out more investigations and we shall be able to update the media on the next step but of course those found culpable will face the law,” he said.
In January, Lwasa was arrested over fraud and obtaining money by false presence when he sold fake gold worth Shs200 million to a Chinese national. He was later released on police bond
