Police in Kagadi is hunting for a man only identified as Busobozi for allegedly hacking his wife to death.

He is accused of hacking to death Mary Kyaligonza 35, a resident of Kisankwa village in Kinyarugonjo sub county. The incident happened on Sunday evening at around 5p.m.

It is alleged that the couple picked a quarrel over a yet-to-be-known reason prompting Busobozi to pick a panga that he used to severally hack Kyaligonza in the neck, killing her instantly.

Godfrey Alinaitwe, the deceased’s brother told Uganda Radio Network in an interview on Monday that after committing the gruesome act, the suspect took off and is yet to be apprehended.

He says though area residents rushed to save his sister’s life after she sounded an alarm, it was too late since she had already died.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident adding that investigations into the brutal killing of the woman by her husband have commenced.

He says police picked the body that was later taken to Kagadi General hospital for postmortem.

According to Hakiza, the deceased succumbed due to over bleeding resulting from injuries inflicted on her by the husband.

The body was later handed over to the relatives for burial as the hunt for the suspect is ongoing.
