Four Men Arrested For Gang Raping Woman In Kakumiro

Police in Kakumiro have arrested four men accused of gang raping a 32 year old woman.

The suspects are Moses Muyombya 46, Safati Karugaba 37, Ambrose Gumisiriza 32 and Geofrey Tibitenwa aka Zigido 28, all residents of Mutabwa Cell in Kakindo town council.

The victim whose particulars have been concealed by police was attacked by the four men while on her way home from Kakindo market on Monday evening at around 8p.m.

The men reportedly  waylaid the woman raped, beat and robbed unspecified amount of money and other belongings from her before they fled. She made an alarm that attracted area residents to come to her rescue.

She was rushed to Kakindo Health Center IV in Kakindo town council by good Samaritans where she is currently receiving treatment..

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the arrest of the suspects adding that though at first they escaped, police was able to trace for them.

Hakiza says the suspects were arrested on Tuesday from various parts of Kakumiro adding that they were immediately whisked to Kakumiro central police station where they are currently being detained.

Hakiza says once police investigations are through, the suspects will be arraigned before court to be charged with rape.
