Two Police Officers Shot Dead in Kiboga District

Two police officers have been shot dead by unknown people in Kiboga District. The policemen were shot and killed at Nakasozi Police Post in Kiboga District by armed men dressed in civilian clothes on Thursday evening.

Wamala Region Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala identified the deceased as Corporal Francis Nsubuga, the Officer in Charge of Nakasozi Police Post and Special Police Constable- SPC Paul Dimba, an officer attached to the same Police Post.           

“The facts indicate that the officers were attacked while seated at the police post, by a gang of four armed men who were dressed in civilian clothes,” Kawala said in an interview. She said that the incident is the second attack within a period of nine days targeting police officers and their guns.       

Kawala added that a team of flying squad unit personnel from the region has been sent to team up with the territorial police of Kiboga District to hunt for the killers. The death of these two officers brings to six, the number of officers who have been shot dead in the Wamala Region in a period of two months.

The incident comes amid ongoing investigations into the circumstances under which one of their officers died near his home in Mityana District.       

Patrick Nuwagaba, an Inspector of Police – IP, the Officer in Charge of Kakindu Police Station in Mityana District was last Saturday found dead with the body at the front tyres of his car parked about 500 meters away from his home at Mayirye Village in Kakindu Sub County, Mityana District.      

On December 7, two policemen were killed in the district of Mityana by suspected thugs. Corporal Alfred Oketch and Police Constable Moses Kigongo attached to Busunju Police Station in Mityana District were attacked by unknown assailants after they responded to a crime incident in Sebobo Sekanyonyi Sub-county. The assailants hacked one of the police officers before disarming him.

On October 16, 2021, a police officer was killed and two others were injured after suspected robbers raided a factory at Kigalama in Kassanda District along Mityana-Mubende road.
