Gen Mbadi: Detractors Won’t Stop Us Defending This Nation

Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Wilson Mbadi, has described as “detractors,” people spreading false news that he stormed out of a security meeting.

Gen Mbadi’s response is contained in a tweet posted on Saturday afternoon, in which he brands the reports as false.

A news website had carried a story claiming the CDF left a meeting that was discussing the Kampala Twin Bombs on Tuesday.

“This allegation in the media that I stormed out of a meeting of security chiefs on Wednesday that was discussing the bomb attacks in Kampala this week is completely false. No such a meeting happened at all. Detractors will not derail us from defending our people and the nation,” the CDF tweeted.

The UPDF Spokesperson, has also refuted the reports, saying they are meant to distract the joint efforts to defeat terrorism.

On Tuesday, six people lost their lives and 33 others were left injured, following the twin blasts that rocked the capital, Kampala.

President Yoweri Museveni revealed on the same day that the terrorists had invited him, and that he would go after them.

“They have exposed themselves when we are more ready for urban terrorism. They will perish. Rural terrorism was defeated in 2007 in the Semliki National Park. I am referring to the dead terrorists as manipulated victims of confusion.,” the president said.

He added, “

Three (3) IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) have been recovered including the one of today. The terrorists invited us and we are coming for them.”

President Museveni is expected to comment on the issue in his national address on Saturday night.
