Uganda’s tax body, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), on Saturday found itself caught up in a PR battle.
It emanated from a URA social media influencer, Valentine Kachaina, who said he was going to answer questions about the tax body, “Process by Process.”
“Process by Process” is a phrase picked from a narration of a one Joan Namatovu, who came up to claim former MP, Peter Ssematimba had sired a kid with her and wanted to take full custody of the child.
Uganda’s online community quickly jumped on the line just like Kachaina.
However, URA came under attack with many accusing it of mocking a lady who was sexually abused.
This has prompted it to apologise and deny coming up with the idea, saying it belongs to Kachaina.
“We regret the choice of words used by our tax education comic influencer – Kachaina in his most recent works and we confirm that is not our work. We ‘ve asked him to pull down the creative works from his social media platforms. We apologise to everyone who has been offended,” URA tweeted.
