A video clip and photos showing homosexuals who attending a gay wedding in Nansana, a Kampala suburb, have been released.

On Monday, a joint security team arrested 36 men in Nansana, after they were found attending a gay wedding.

CID Spokesperson, Charles Twiine revealed this on Monday evening saying they will be charged for engaging in acts likely to spread COVID19.

“Joint security team has arrested 36 men from Nansana all putting on like women, with hair wigs and makeup at a wedding party of a guy couple. The arrested will be charged for doing a negligent act likely to spread an infectious disease, for they did not follow SOPS,” Twiine tweeted.

Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda.

Early last month, the Ugandan Parliament on Monday passed the Sexual Offenses Bill, which contains a clause to criminalize same-sex relationships. The bill prescribes a five-year-jail term for anyone guilty of same-sex acts, and awaits the signature of President Yoweri Museveni.

Under the Penal Code, “carnal knowledge against the order of nature” between two males carries a potential penalty of life imprisonment.
