The Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng is set to address the nation on Wednesday evening, news that has put Ugandans on edge.
According to a brief memo from the minister, Aceng’s address will focus on how the country can prevent importing a deadly variant of COVID19 into the country.
Last week, the ministry advised Ugandans to up the ante in terms of safety measures to prevent the variant from India that has devastate the Asian nation. It also revealed that the variant had been detected in Uganda.
Government banned flights from India as part of the measures.
There have been rumors that the government could impose a second lockdown to prevent the entry of the deadly Indian variant.
On Tuesday, the minister of information, Judith Nabakooba revealed that there it would not be in government interests to impose the lockdown unless safety measures are not adhered to.
