Uganda’s Premier, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has dismissed claims that he has written to President Yoweri Museveni asking him to retire from active politics ahead of the announcing of the next cabinet.

Rugunda made the remarks on Tuesday while responding to reports that he had penned a letter to the president.

Addressing journalists at Parliament this evening, the Prime minister said that revolutionaries do not just retire from service, adding that he was still strong enough to continue serving the People of Uganda.

Rugunda has been Prime Minister of Uganda since 2014. He held a long series of cabinet posts under President Yoweri Museveni beginning in 1986.

He served as Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1994 to 1996 and as Minister of Internal Affairs from 2003 to 2009.
