Uganda’s Minister of ICT, Judith Nabakooba has said it is regrettable that elected leaders can spend time discussing social media rumors instead of focusing on important issues.

Nabakooba made the statement on Sunday saying for elected leaders to spend time discussing “meeri” and “emotoka” shows how unserious they are.

“It is unfortunate to see elected leaders spending time amplifying social media political lies & rumors. (emeeli, emotooka). There is a lot of work to be done. For individuals that have a purpose & vision of living a quality life, they cannot be seen spending time promoting fake news,” Nabakooba said.

The Expeditionary Sea Base USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB 4) arrived in Mombasa, Kenya for a port visit, February 8, 2021, in support of its 2021 African coast deployment.

In the past three weeks, the US Navy Ship USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB 4) that arrived in Mombasa, Kenya for a port visit, and Bobi Wine’s new Land Cruiser car V8 car have dominated debate on social media sites.

This debate has sucked in elected leaders which is unfortunate according to Nabakooba.
