The Ugandan army is mourning the death of one of their own, Captain Caroline Busingye who succumbed to injuries sustained in a chopper crash on Thursday.
UPDF spokesperson Brig Flavia Kyekwaso revealed the sad news on twitter, the same day the army chopper in which Caroline was traveling crashed.
“It is with sadness that we announce the passing on of Capt Caroline Busingye after she was involved in a plane crush today Afternoon in Entebbe. We Commiserate with the family of the late and the UPDF Airforce fraternity during this very difficult moment. MAGRIP,” Brig Flavia tweeted.
Early in the day, Caroline together with another Cadet trainee were doing a mutual training flight when the chopper went down near Lido Beach in Entebbe.
It is not yet clear what caused the crash but Brig Falvia said an investigation was underway
“Today afternoon at about 2:15pm a jet ranger piloted by two cadet trainees on a mutual training flight came down immediately after take off near Lido beach. The two were rushed to hospital to ascertain their health. Our aviation team is on ground to investigate the mishap,” the army spokesperson said earlier.
