Representatives of the European Union in Uganda has met and held talks with former Presidential andidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine of the just concluded presidential poll.
According to EU ambassador to Uganda, ambassador Attilio Pacifici, the talks with Bobi Wine focused on the concerns by the latter over the polls that Bobi is now challenging in court.
“Together with EU colleagues I met with @NUP_Ug leaders today to exchange views and hear their concerns following the elections. We value and encourage dialogue with and between all political actors. I look forward to meetings also with other political parties in the near future,” Ambassador Pacifi tweeted on Thursday.
The meeting comes days after Natalie E. Brown, the U.S. Ambassador to Uganda, met and held talks with Bobi Wine who is also the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party.
Her meeting with Bobi Wine took place on Jan.30, over 12 days after the ambassador was prevented from accessing him by the Uganda security forces on Jan. 18.
The American embassy said at the time that the ambassador wanted to check on Kyagulanyi’s “health and safety.”
