The National Unity Platform (NUP), presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi has come up with a mobile application named ‘You Vote’ that will be used to monitor results in the forthcoming elections.

Speaking to the media his home in Magere on Saturday, Kyagulanyi alleged that illegal tallying centres had been established in different parts of the country to help in vote-rigging without giving more details.

“We have been building an application that will help us bring together the results of this election. We have few days to determine the future of this country. We have few days to determine the fate of Uganda,” he said.

Kyagulanyi said that the application will help them in ensuring that they tighten every noose that can be used to rig votes.

“This is application is called u-vote. We shall be sending it to you via WhatsApp and we shall ask you to share it. We want to use this app to minimize any loose ends to vote-rigging. It will be used by our agents to send declaration forms,” Kyagulanyi said.

Kyagulanyi asked his supporters to use their smartphones during elections and record each activity especially when returning officers are declaring results.

“This will be done by our agents but it can also be done by any citizen because this is not about agents, it’s about all Ugandans. I kindly ask all Ugandans to be part of this initiative,” he noted.

He asked all Ugandans to ensure that they turn up in large numbers on polling day.

He said the app can also be accessible via Google play store imploring the Electoral Commission to ensure a transparent process for a free and fair election.
