Paul Kyalimpa who recently withdrew from the Parliamentary race against Finance Minister, Matia Kasaija, has landed a juicy job as Deputy Director General of Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).

Kyalimpa was challenging Finance Matia Kasaija for MP Buyanja county (Kibaale) but he later withdrew his candidature.

According to the returning officer, Ipeto Aggrey James, noted that Kyalimpa who was an independent candidate, had withdrawn from the MP race, leaving the minister unopposed.

“Please refer to the attached copy of the withdraw letter and the Declaration by the Returning Officer of Hon. Matia Kasaija as unopposed for Buyanja County in Kibaale Electoral District,” he noted.

The returning officer did not give any reason as to why Kyalimpa left the race prematurely but a separate document seen by this website shows that Kyalimpa will join the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) as a deputy director general.

In a letter obtained by Ug Mirror, President Museveni notifies Minister Kasaija of the appointment of Kyalimpa to the position of Deputy Director General at UIA.

“I refer to my conversation with you in Gulu last Wednesday regarding the above-named person (Kyalimpa). This is to authorize you to go ahead with the recruitment process and have the candidate appointed, if found suitable,” the President said in his letter.
