Bobi Wine Back On Campaign Trail

1 Mins read

The National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential candidate Ssentamu Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has resumed his campaign activities in the Eastern part of the country.

Bobi Wine was seen with his friends dressed in Bullet proof vests headed for a political campaign that will take place in Bigisu region today.

They were in company of personal bodyguards Ariho Norbert (who’s still under Police investigation) and Eddie Mutwe.

Bobi Wine had suspended his campaign after police fired rubber bullets and teargas to prevent him from attending a rally and injured some of his aides on Tuesday this week.

His car tires were shot at and the windscreen of his car was shattered in an incident that happened in Jinja on Tuesday.

Bobi Wine had halted his campaign to protest police brutality and he successfully held a meeting with the head of the Electoral Commission to discuss the obstruction of his campaign rallies.

As he heads for his campaigns, Police in Elgon Region have warned residents of Manafwa and Bududa against staging any procession during Bobi Wine visit in the area.

Kyagulanyi is expected to campaign in Kibuku and Budaka districts before heading to Manafwa and Bududa districts later in the afternoon.

The Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, John Robert Tukei called for cooperation between security and residents to avoid skirmishes as Kyagulanyi campaigns there.

He also called on the organisers of Kyagulanyi’s campaigns to stick to the campaign venues as directed by police.
