Police officers have pitched camp at the headquarters of opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party ahead of the presidential nomination of the party flag bearer on Tuesday.

Patrick Obo Amuriat is slated to be nominated to contest for the country’s top job on Tuesday.

We have learnt that police’s heavy deployment at the Najjanankumbi based offices is due to reports that the pary was mobilising supporters to accompany Amuriat for his nomination.

Police has outlawed processions.

AIGP Edward Ochom the Director Operations said, “For those political actors and groups that are still defiant and mobilizing Boda Boda riders and militias onto the streets; and ferrying supporters from upcountry into illegal processions and rallies; we are closely monitoring them. Therefore, any Presidential Aspirant who mobilizes boda bodas for a procession risks being arrested including those boda boda riders. We have plans to respond proportionately, in the face of violent crime, which may include the use of teargas to disperse these violent groups and arrest the culprits for prosecution.”

The President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine has revealed that security agencies have plans of abducting or arresting him ahead of his nomination as presidential candidate.

Bobi Wine will be nominated tomorrow, days after he was cleared and verified by the Electoral Commission.
