I Am Ready To Campaign For Museveni — NUP Ex-President Kibalama

1 Mins read

Former National Unity Platform President Moses Nkonge Kibalama has said that he is ready to campaign for President Museveni if he needs his services.

Appearing on NBS morning Breeze on Monday morning, Nkonge said that Museveni can’t be compared to anything or anyone else.

Kibalama said Museveni is incomparable, having been able to shepherd the country for three decades.

“I cannot compare him to anyone else, here we are, Uganda had a terrible history even in governments I served. Some governments lasted for only 63 days, some for six months, Binaisa and Yusuf Lule came and lived shortly, to find someone who has lasted for 30 years, that is a blessing,” Kibalama said.

Nkonge said Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine betrayed him as soon as he handed the party him.

He expressed his disappointments towards the current leadership of NUP noting that he has been let down by the people he trusted.

Nkonge claimed that NUP leadership is not following the constitution of the party and terms and conditions of the agreement.

“Within a week, I found myself side-lined in NUP and wondered Is this what I negotiated for? I was side-lined. What can I say? Kyagulanyi and I are not friends,” he said.

Asked whether he regrets handing the party to Bobi Wine, Nkonge said anyone can make political mistakes which are regrettable.

“When you head a political party, you have an urge to get more members. You allow in as many as possible. I intended to have people come in and energise the party. I was very hopeful. Weeks later, I come to understand that I teamed up with a gang,” he said.

Kibalama however said he would prefer Bobi Wine to be the president of Uganda if he was still in good terms with him which isn’t the case at the moment.

“In case Bobi Wine invites me back, I will support him. Right now, I am a free man. I can support anybody,” he said.
