Court Summons Bobi Wine For Providing Fake Documents To EC

Wakiso magistrates court has summoned the leader of National Unity Platform,  Robert Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi Wine to appear and answer charges of giving false information to Wakiso Electoral Commission returning officer.

City lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi on Monday asked Buganda Road court to issue an arrest warrant against Kyagulanyi for allegedly lying about his age.

He accused Kyagulanyi of giving false information to the Electoral Commission that he had completed the minimum formal education of Advanced Level standard knowing that it was false.

Mabirizi also accused the singer turned politician of obtaining registration by false pretense and uttering false documents contrary to the Penal Code Act.

Kyagulanyi is also accused of obtaining registration by false pretense as well as forging documents, contrary to sections 312 and 351 of the Penal Code Act.

According to the documents signed by the chief magistrate Esther Nakadama Mubiru, Kyagulanyi is to appear before the court on September 16th 2020 at 10am.

The documents filed before Buganda Road court registry indicate that Kyagulanyi is wanted to answer charges related to making a false declaration before a passport control officer by stating that he was born in 1982 yet there is evidence which proves that he was born in 1980.
