Dr. Aminah Zawedde has been appointed non-executive director at DFCU Bank.
According to the Board of Directors of DFCU Limited, she took over the role on August 24.
Zawedde is a senior researcher and lecturer at the School of Computing and Informatics Technology of Makerere University.
The academician has served at the university in different positions for the last 15 years.
She is also a member of the National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) Board of Directors.
She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands and is a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
“She brings on board vast experiences in IT initiatives and strategic leadership from both the public and private sector,” reads an official statement released by Ligomarc Advocates on behalf of the Board of Directors.
“The Board takes this opportunity to welcome Dr. Zawedde and wish her a successful tenure with the board,” the statement read.
According to its 2019 financial results, DFCU bank registered growth in profitability of Shs 73.4 billion, representing a 21% growth compared to Shs 60.9 billion in 2018.
The results also show that overall, interest expense reduced by 7 percent from Shs 104.7 billion to Shs 97.8 billion, net interest income of the company increased by 3 percent from Shs 221.1 billion to Shs 227.4 billion in 2019.
During the period, the bank’s asset base increased by 1 percent from Shs2.916 trillion to Shs 2. 958 trillion supported by strong growth in loans and advances
The bank’s deposit base grew by 3 percent from Shs 1.9 trillion to Shs 2 trillion. Loans and advances grew by 10 percent from Shs 1.3 trillion to Shs 1.5 trillion.
