The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II today paid a courtesy visit to the President of Kenya Uhuru Keyatta at State House Nairobi.
His visit dispels rumours that he had been poisoned and was critically ill.
The Kabaka is in Kenya for an annual two months leave.
The Head of State and the visiting cultural leader discussed subjects of mutual interest among them the central role of culture in regional integration and peaceful communal co-existence.
“The two discussed subjects of mutual Interest with President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta among them the central role of culture in regional integration and peaceful communal co-existence.” State House Kenya tweeted.
Sources inside the Lubiri confirmed yesterday that Kabaka Ronald Mutebi annually takes his two months leave after the coronation anniversary and this year, he decided to visit Kenya.
A source told journalists that, he has done this every year since he was enthroned as the 36th Kabaka of Buganda.
This website also understands that the Kabaka will witness the annual migration of the Serengeti wildebeests from Tanzania to Kenya, which has always been something he wanted to do, according to sources in Buganda.
Rumours have been making rounds that the Kabaka had checked in a Nairobi hospital at the weekend.
However, the Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister came out earlier in the week to dismiss the rumours, allaying any fears that the Kabaka was unwell.
President Museveni on Thursday night said the police would arrest those who hd originated such an acidic rumour on social media. “Why do you go to social media to announce death of person?” The President asked, adding that the police would trace such people who will be dealt with.
After the coronation anniversary celebrations at the Mengo Palace, Kabaka Mutebi appeared at the Ministry of Internal Affairs to update his diplomatic passport to enable him take this break.
